Route No 1

Signs of creativity in public spaces
Together, we will see the heritage of this part of the sleeping district (the first – second Šilainiai), touching the most important works of professional and amateur art. We will see examples of street art, professional and amateur sculptures, typographic solutions, placemaking elements, architectural details and interdisciplinary art. We will experience how public spaces are created and used by Šilainiai residents of different ages. From now on you will see public spaces differently!

Route No 2

Evolution of the urban landscape
We will start our walk from Santarves Park, passing through the “austerity mode” built part IV of Šilainiai, and reach the World War I heritage site – Fort No.8, which houses the Šilainiai Gardens. During the warm season we will visit the dungeons of the fort, hear about the history of the community gardens, enjoy the educational raised garden beds (in the peak season, we will pick mint for tea) and new objects created by artists out of locally found rubbish. We will learn about the challenges and the changes taking place in the area.

It is prohibited to visit the tunnels of Fort No.8 from 1st October to 1st May.
Bats sleep here.

Route No 3

“Linkuvėlė”
What happened in the current Šilainiai area, before the construction of the apartment blocks? During this walk, we will experience the rapidly changing part of Šilainiai on Mosėdžio Street, and hear stories about the local inhabitants and their ingenuity and creativity. We will visit the territory of Linkuva Manor and explore the sculptural compositions there.
